Several years back I wrote a series of articles I called ‘guide dogs’, periodic summaries of the action going on in the skies. Today I am resurrecting this tradition.Welcome to guide dog 7.
Guide dog 7 is a bit of a different beast to her predecessors. They were all text based adventures, but she has graphs! Additionally, I am widening the scope of her vision – previous guide dogs could not make reference to the ideas in The 26 Keys since at the time I was still developing them in my personal practice. Now this has changed, future guide dogs will always connect with the ideas for practical work set out in my book. Finally, I have widened the scope further by taking in an entire year rather than a quarter.
This allows us to look at the big picture more and to see the pattern made by the slower moving worlds like Pluto. However this does not mean that guide dogs are now annual reports rather than quarterly ones – I will (perhaps) be adding to the picture described here with further reports as time and interest arise. A great deal depends on how useful or not this information is to you, dear reader, and how much I hear about that.
In this guide dog I am going to look at the activators used in the 26 keys – the 6 main ones – and their journeys over 2013. I shall not only be looking at the keys they will be activating in that time, but also at the way they are interacting with one another. When a key is activated, what arises is of the nature of the activator acting on the nature of the key. However the situation is made more complex by the fact that activators are also in a state of flux, they have phases when their essential meaning is being altered and modified by the other activators.
For example, suppose you have Jupiter activating your Sun key, and at the same time you have Saturn activating it too. In this case, Jupiter is acting upon Saturn and Saturn is acting upon Jupiter, and BOTH are acting upon your Sun key. Or, suppose you have Sun square the Moon in your chart, and you have Uranus activating the Sun and Pluto activating the Moon. That means two separate keys are being activated, the Sun and Moon key, but the activation of the Sun key by Uranus is having something square done to it by Pluto, and the activation of the Moon key is having something square done to it by Uranus.
In other words, all the patterns in your birth chart will connect at specific points and at specific times with all the patterns going on in the sky in that moment, and all the activations you have going on are modified by this interaction. These guide dogs will therefore give you a missing piece of the puzzle that was presented in The 26 Keys: an insight into the continually changing patterns in the sky and what they mean for you. Comments about specific world events will be kept to a minimum but at least the ‘interesting times’ can be easily inferred from the information provided below. Also, if you are looking for clues that can help change the world through collective action you will find many in the following few minutes if you keep reading.
So what does 2013 hold in store for us? Shall we take a dive into our near future?
Stress, Pressure and Energy
Deep End: this is a huge year. Great and lasting changes are afoot, and there will be trouble. This is a part of the pattern that has been emerging for some time now so we all recognise that this is the case and it is pretty obvious things aren’t just going to go away. They are leading somewhere. This is the context we must examine this guide in. These are confrontational times and 2013 will see a major peak in this part of the pattern.
The key piece of information that astrology provides is not what will happen – it is up to us to weave the essential meaning of the pattern into form – but more when it will happen. Take a look at this graph (click to enlarge):
This is a graph showing the movements of the 6 main activators through time in 2013. The wavy lines are the activators, the left of the graph represents January 1st and the right December 31st. The signs the activators are in are indicated on the left, but if a dot (•) registers anywhere on the activators wavy line, it means it changes signs. The only activator doing that in 2013 is Jupiter, and you can see the approximate time of year from the location of the dot on his blue line. It goes off the bottom of the graph and then reappears at the top with a dot and the symbol for the new sign, Cancer, in the last week of June.
This graph is for energy and stress – it shows when the activators are creating conditions which indicate stress, activity and an Electric discharge. In astrological terminology it shows the times when the activators are mostly square or opposite one another, bringing about influences which have the nature of Mars and Saturn. These are challenging times in which something powerful and often uncontrollable escapes and must run its natural course.
When are these times? They occur when one or more wavy lines cross; the more wavy lines that cross at around the same time, the bigger the explosion or the more intense the pressure that is being built and applied to cause something to happen.
Here is a breakdown of the main factors indicated in the graph:
- Mid January: Jupiter in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces
- Late March: Jupiter in Gemini square Chiron in Pisces
- Mid May: Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Gemini inconjunct Saturn in Scorpio
- August: Jupiter in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn and square Uranus in Aries
- Late October: Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn
What do these 7 influences mean? Well, first of all there are actually only 5 individual influences, because two of them repeat themselves, one of which is the square between Uranus and Pluto and this is the place where we begin because it is actually the source of all the great change, trouble and unrest we are seeing emerge over the last years and will now see reaching some kind of giddy zenith.
This square is pretty rare. Here are the last occurrences going back to 1500:
- 1566-1567: Uranus in Sagittarius, Pluto in Pisces
- 1623-1624: Uranus in Leo, Pluto in Taurus
- 1678-1680: Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Cancer
- 1755-1758: Uranus in Pisces, Pluto in Sagittarius
- 1820-1821: Uranus in Sagittarius, Pluto in Pisces
- 1876 – 1877: Uranus in Leo, Pluto in Taurus
- 1932-1934: Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Cancer
These periods of history connect with the current one though the square of Uranus with Pluto – they are the historical context for the events of today, especially the previous square from the early 1930s which had Pluto in Cancer instead of Capricorn. Observant readers will note the intimation of a pattern in the way these 2 worlds square up over pairs of signs – the pattern is not an illusion, it is really there. It displays itself in a count of 4. Note however that as far back as 1500 there is no iteration of Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. In fact you have to go back over 3000 years to 1166 BC to find another time when these two planets were square and in the same signs they are both in today. The pattern has anomalies and they are very special.
So we can forecast from this graph that the peak of this influence occurs twice in 2013, once in mid-May and then again in late October and early November. While it would not be unusual for the years most significant days to fall near or exactly on these times it is not always the case – these influences have windows of opportunity too, just like activations to keys. The same general rule of thumb applied in the 26 keys can be used here too, just look at the fastest moving activator for the span of the window. In the case of Uranus square Pluto, for example, Uranus is the faster and so the window is about 6 months either side and we can expect a high potency very close to the exact dates. This is why the entire year is threaded with troubles and challenges from which there is no easy or obvious escape or solution.
The general meaning of this square is that the individual and by extension the collective awareness is being challenged to change (often through technological, social or political pressures) or die. This applies not just to human collective awareness but to all other earth-born species as well. We are witnessing an epic struggle for survival as the planet heaves under the weight of 7 billion human souls and their machinery. Nature, being self equilibrating, will do whatever she can to keep things in balance. Massive tensions are being applied by this square. Epic.
Each of us will experience this part of the pattern and know it is there in our own way. However, some people will experience it in greater fullness or impact. Who are these people, trembling reader? Well, they are anyone with keys at or near 9-11° of the Active signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. In particular, if you have a key at or near (within 3°) Aries 9° or Capricorn 11°, this year will be very significant for those keys because those are the positions occupied by Uranus and Pluto when they are square this year. The Aries keys being activated by Uranus will be complicated by squares from Pluto, and the Capricorn keys being activated by Pluto will be complicated by squares from Uranus.
This complication will be stressful, energising and highly challenging and how you choose to navigate through your situation will determine much of your future interaction with the planet activating your key. You will likely be faced with overwhelming odds or situations and you will be motivated to confront them head on, but you must beware becoming volatile and supercharged with an urge for destruction.
The remaining influences to discuss from the graph involve Jupiter. There was a square between Jupiter and Chiron in mid January and it will reassert itself in late March. This focuses on everyone with keys in Gemini or Pisces, specifically those with keys around 6° of Gemini or Pisces or 11 ° of Gemini or Pisces. The square between Jupiter and Chiron will be strong all year up until about June, however, just not as strong a feature of the pattern as it is in mid January and late March.
The nature of this square is that of pain caused by overextension. We do too much or expect too much and have expectations dashed, or we over-reach and break something. It strongly advises we take greater care and caution in anything that could bring us harm. There is a greater risk of exaggerated behaviour or a breakdown of some kind in the way things usually go. On the plus side, the action of Chiron is being greatly energised by Jupiter which can lead to healing breakthroughs provided we have not expected great things too soon and the action of Chiron on Jupiter helps the activation of the Gemini keys to be more specific and less intellectual, more over-sensitive. Yet this shows it is quite a difficult time for Gemini keys and that Pisces keys run into bigger, more dramatic and exaggerated situations. Too much information potentially gets in the way of turning the Chiron activations of Pisces keys and too much acute and touchy sensitivity gets in the way of turning Jupiter activations of Gemini keys.
In mid-May before leaving Gemini Jupiter will be inconjunct (150°) from Saturn, resulting in a slight irritation between their two principles as they compete for our attention. It will seem there are some who are keen to talk and move on (the Jupiter in Gemini crowd) and some who are keen to stay silent and remain where they are (the Saturn in Scorpio crowd), and these crowds will exists within us too. If you are working with either Jupiter or Saturn, whether as activators, keys or conductors, this period perhaps has a little tripwire to navigate through.
Finally, in August Jupiter has moved into Cancer and this means he weaves into the pattern being created by Uranus and Pluto, first by opposing Pluto and then by squaring Uranus. This seems to ignite things for the late October square between them. His action is simply to expand the consequences of the square, which is why the months August – November will likely see most of the years tension and action. What can be said about this is that it is mostly significant for the people and keys already mentioned in the discussion of Uranus square Pluto, but with the addition that keys in Cancer around 9° will be drawn into the drama. So if you have a key at Cancer 08° being activated by, say, a progressed Moon, then you are being tied into the great pattern unfolding in the sky through your Cancerian key and can expect some big changes in both your awareness of the progressed Moon and the Cancerian key, as well as any other keys around 9° of Aries, Cancer or Capricorn. The other Active sign, Libra, will still be responding to the pattern, just without an activator to focus and amplify the effect, but keys at 9° Libra will experience the square too.
Form building and flow
Here is a second graph, this one showing the form building aspects of the sextile and trine. There is more interweaving between the activators in the graph, and this is usual.
We have to interpret this graph slightly differently as it shows the way in which the activators are combining their influences into a blended and somewhat homogeneous mixture that produces influences much less challenging and distinct than the previous graph does. The rules of interpretation stay basically the same, though: the planets are shown as waves which intersect one another and thereby interact at certain times and places in the sky. This is a graph for form building and flow – when the activators are accruing energy by arousing and supporting one another in a more Magnetic way which builds things smoothly by pulling them together without interference or challenge.
When we break this denser weaving down we have this:
- Early March: Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Late March: Saturn in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces
- Early April: Chiron in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Mid June: Saturn in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces
- Mid July: Jupiter in Cancer trine Saturn in Scorpio and trine Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces
- Late August: Jupiter in Cancer trine Chiron in Pisces
- Late September: Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Early October: Saturn in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces
- Late October: Chiron in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Mid December: Jupiter in Cancer trine Saturn in Scorpio
This strongly emphasises Water and Earth. Note also that Uranus is absent. Here again we see repeats of influences weaving into a pattern so that there are only 7 distinct influences, here arranged and discussed in a rough order of magnitude or rarity:
- Chiron in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- Saturn in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces
- Jupiter in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces
- Saturn in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces
- Jupiter in Cancer trine Chiron in Pisces
- Jupiter in Cancer trine Saturn in Scorpio
Chiron in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn (early April and late October) is an influence that arouses feelings concerned with the issues of Chiron and Pluto – healing, regeneration and renewed interests in fixing things that have been broken or neglected. The action of Chiron on Pluto stimulates a desire to mend ourselves on deep levels, that of Pluto on Chiron to be able to withstand great strain, and the signs involved relate to the way our awareness of personal significance is shaped into form and given expression in the physical world. Those turning their keys in Pisces being activated by Chiron will receive encouragement from Pluto in Capricorn while those turning Capricorn keys will be given a gift of healing at the appropriate times.
Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn (early March and late September ) is a similar influence but with a need for time to play a role. A sextile from Saturn on Pluto arouses the need to be patient before true transformation will come and gives greater discipline and karmic support to anyone turning Capricorn keys being activated by Pluto. At the same time the action of Pluto on Saturn in Scorpio is to make him even more powerful and resilient, so that anyone turning Scorpio keys being activated by Saturn receives a tremendous surge of willpower and desire to eventually succeed. The signs involved are related to the conservation and generation of astral identity and power and the manner in which individual forms are cloaked in significance, how things represent their inner nature in their outer form.
Saturn in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces (June and July) brings order to the imagination and spiritual initiation. The objective reality of things is easily revealed and the acceptance of this reality is relatively smooth. A dream can be built with greater swiftness and less opposition. People involved in turning their Scorpio keys at this time will find they are given dreams, inspiration and plenty of imagination to apply to the conduction while people turning their Pisces keys will gain temporary support from Saturn which helps to keep things real and grounded, less nebulous, something they will come to appreciate more once Neptune delves deeper into the sign as the decade moves on. Here, the two signs are both related to internalised processes and thus the trine implies a greater emphasis on introspection.
Jupiter in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces (mid July) is a very fertile and productive trine, pumped with imaginative and empathetic potential. If you need to remind someone or something of how much you care this is an excellent time to do it. Being sensitive to other people, being guided by instincts to do no harm and making your way as sensitively as possible turn into winning strategies at this time, especially for people turning Cancer or Pisces keys, but also for anyone turning Scorpio keys which are being activated by Saturn. There is powerful Water magic flowing here for a limited time that allows us all to more rapidly and smoothly move on with the weighty issues presented by Saturn in Scorpio.
Saturn in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces (late March and early October) brings with it opportunities to bring greater stability and order to the Water in our lives. Feelings can be stabilised or given strong and enduring support and the flow of karma means that it is time for healing efforts to take root in reality. If you are in recovery this is a time in which, with patience and effort, you can see some of your strength returning. It all depends on how realistic your attitude to pain is. For people working with Pisces keys it is again a time of greater stability with any painful realisations that arise being easier to deal with, while for those turning their Scorpio keys the opportunity for healing and a deeper and more intense bond or integration which brings healing arises.
Jupiter in Cancer trine Chiron in Pisces (late August) is somewhat similar to Jupiter trine Neptune in the sense that it counsels caring and reaching out, but there is an element of touchiness or wariness because the influence of Chiron is to make Jupiter more accepting of necessary evils or bad feelings and the influence of Jupiter on Chiron is inclined to seek protection for vulnerabilities so as to escape from having to worry about them. The Elemental Kingdom of Water in particular opens its doors and is more receptive to humanity and vice versa during this trine, but all nature spirits respond to an increased desire to connect themselves with the natural world, to grow and propagate. This is an excellent period to be working with any aquatic creatures. Those turning their Cancer keys under Jupiter activation will find Jupiter is more healing and even more inclusive than usual thanks to the influence of Chiron while those turning Pisces keys will find greater opportunities, ‘luck’ and abundance flowing their way.
Jupiter in Cancer trine Saturn in Scorpio (mid July and mid December) is an indicator or measure of the way the natural order is emerging, namely of the way that its growth or expansiveness is related to its crystallisation or contraction. An entire volume could be written on the relationship between Jupiter and Saturn with respect to their governance of the natural order through these principles and the law of karma or cause and effect. The trine basically favours Jupiter to get the upper hand, unless Saturn gains further support from the pattern. This means that expansion will have a slight upper hand, some kind of edge, over contraction. Under a trine between these two there is a basic co-operation rather than a competition between the growth of the natural order and its crystallisation, but the trine will always slightly favour Jupiter. Overall, this influence brings great strength and a powerful flow of karma to all Water keys and any work turning them at this time will feel empowered by natural laws in some way. The signs involved are both internal and in the Gra Tree (like all Water signs) both relate to the creation or birth of new dimensions of awareness, Cancer the birth of the spirit or temporal mental body, Scorpio the birth of the soul or the astral awareness.
The Bigger Big Picture…
In my book I wrote about the emergence of a new form of awareness in humanity, a collective awareness, and how it was connected to the appearance of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, along with Chiron. Instructions were given for exploring this new realm of astrology.
This guide dog can be applied to the techniques in the book. If we look at the movements of Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto over the course of this year, we will find the following:
- Pluto activates Capricorn 09-11°
- Neptune activates Pisces 01-05°
- Uranus activates Aries 04-12°
- Chiron activates Pisces 06-13°
This tells us that anyone with any key at those degrees receives a significant activation this year which can be conducted into life in the way I have described. However, it also tells us that anyone with a collective world key at any of these places will be involved in a generational activation – an activation that happens not just to them, but to a large pool of people of which they are a member.
The information I give below shows you who those people are:
- Aries 04-12°: 1928-1930 (Uranus key) 1920-1921, 1970-1972 (Chiron key)
- Capricorn 09-11°: 1952-1953 (Chiron key); 1988-1990 (Neptune key); 1990-1992 (Uranus key)
- Pisces 01-05°: 1920-1921 and 2004-2005 (Uranus key); 1961-1962 (Chiron key)
- Pisces 06-13°: 1921-1923 and 2004-2007 (Uranus key); 1961-1964 (Chiron key)
There is some leeway in these dates of about a year or more either side so for example if you are born in 1986 you may still receive an activation of your Neptune key by Pluto in Capricorn.
What this final piece under consideration today tells us, for example, is that if you are born in the late 80s or early 90s you and everyone else born in that period are going to have Pluto activating your Neptune keys at this time, and that if you come together with an intention to put this energy into the world your power will multiply exponentially and create a group mind with the nature of Pluto acting on Neptune.
What that means, I leave up to you…
